Hi, my name is Laura

(and I hoard books)

I live in Western Washington, married to my college sweetheart and dwelling in a forest home with our three sons, ever-hungry golden retriever, and ball-obsessed goldendoodle. While not originally from this area, I’ve lived here long enough that I could happily drink coffee like water and legitimately miss the rain if we’ve been blessed with blue skies for too long. You can easily capture my heart with Pad Thai, ThredUp shopping sprees, and — of course — new books.

My lifelong love affair with books began when I was a young child, and I’m thrilled to have rediscovered this same love of reading as an adult. Thanks to the joys of audiobooks (yes, audiobooks do count as reading and I will die on that hill), I happily gobble my way through 200+ books a year while wearing my other hats as mom, wife, daughter (hello, fellow sandwich generation warriors), and professional bookseller.

I started selling books with PaperPie (formerly known as Usborne Books & More) in 2012 when my children were toddlers and babies. At first, I simply wanted to fill my home with award-winning children’s books for free — and I am truly grateful for the incredible home library I was able to build for my family! Even more, though, I’ve loved working with other parents, local schools, daycares, children’s hospitals, and other organizations in my community to provide them with free books that help support early literacy and learning.

I’m passionate about what books do for children — and for adults — and I hope that your visit to this site will help you spark a new blaze of book joy in your own home!

Curious what I’m reading today?

“Read the best books first, or you may not have a chance to read them at all.”
